Campus Activities Ideas

If you are organizing college campus activities in Connecticut or any other state for that matter, it may be a daunting task to continually come up with things that young adults like to do. The great news is that the current group of college students LOVES doing nostalgic things. I don't know why. It could be that they missed part of their prime childhood fun and birthday parties during the covid years, or maybe they are just enjoying holding onto parts of their youth more than past years. Whatever it is, I have noticed a bid difference in participation from past groups of college students. I've been providing services for over 20 years, so I feel like I have a pretty good perspective on these changes over time.

Honestly, they seem to really like any and all offered as long as it's free to them. Of course they pay for activities through tuition, but as long as you don't charge them separately, they want to do it. All genders, all years.

Face painting, glitter tattoos and airbrush tattoos, balloon animals, caricature drawings... they want in on all of it. We have experience massive lines with no break at EVERY. EVENT. ALL YEAR. The photo above is from a recent College Night event for YALE. We had a line 30 people deep for 4 straight hours for glitter tattoos.

So then what do you do? First, make sure you don't underproject attendance or interest in the activity. Especially if the event is during school hours, the students will stand in line and wait for hours if they have to, and often be late for class as a result. Rather than choose to do everything, choose one or two and make sure you hire enough talent to serve enough of the students. Next consider your events throughout the year. You can always hire a different service for the next event. Since the artists make different things, it's unlikely that doing the same service will get old unless you do it at every event, but it will make the service more of a draw, because they don't know when they will have it available to them again.

The great thing is, all of these services are available and really good options for both indoor and outdoor events. We find they are very popular for the first week back to school, and we don't just see freshman coming out to participate anymore. Other times are during midterms and finals, sporting events, family weekend, and other special events such as alumni days.

Please reach out, and a booking agent will advise you on all of the different options we have available, and our seasoned professionals can make suggestions based on the details of your event.
